Looking in a hole

I would gladly help. Have just discovered our village is being prepared for a brand new DSL connection and it's not via cable but "wireless" which means even our house will get it (we are at least 700 meters from civilisation & they wouldn't lay a cable just for us). This pictured cable laying team is wiring up the transmitter. Apparently it's going to have mega capacity but when you have a 333 connection as we have,even a 2000er is mighty mega.
How I got to find out about this has ruined my day though. At 5:30 this morning, my wife called to say the car had broken down 100 meters from house. Towed her to the village garage & left it there with a note asking owner to call. No call came so drove over. On holiday this week. Called the German AA, they came 90 minutes later & having removed the remains of one of the horses's dried bread rolls from under the plastic engine cover (i.e. we have a marten who may be eating the rubber pipes), he tested all sorts of things between his groans about car manufacturers making essential parts as difficult as possible to access, but could not solve the problem. He then called a tow truck and 9 hours after it all started, the car arrived at an authorised dealer.
My dream of buying a new used SLR camera are now a thing of the past! Anybody out there got something better than a cheap Sanyo photo/video recorder at a reasonable price???
