Outside looking in ....
A glimpse into the welcoming kitchen as we arrived in the dark ....
Staying at a typical brick and flint Sussex cottage in the village where we are going to rent a house, just until our furniture comes tomorrow. This B&B used to be a farm manager's cottage on the Cowdray estate, one of the largest estates in Sussex. It's beamed and pretty inside, unlike it's former incarnation when no doubt it would be dark and functional. Cowdray Estate is colour coded. The exterior woodwork of this manager's houses is painted dark green, as are all managers' houses, instead of the usual garish yellow of the workers' houses - there are mustard yellow houses all over this area. Business premises are painted black and white.
The title is reminiscent of my life adrift, but today we get the keys to the rented house and can start making preparations. Not an exciting photo, just a record of this peculiar journey we are on.
