Mary's Meals

The charity Mary's Meals - which is based in Dalmally in Argyll - is doing amazing work here in Malawi. Feeing hundreds of thousands of children in more than 400 schools and running a number of under 6's centres for orphans or other young children in the most difficult circumstances it is involved in practical co-oparation with the community at lots of levels. For example it is parent volunteers that cook the vitamin enriched Likuni Phala, a type of soya and maize porridge.

A meal at school helps learning, encourages attendance , fights disease and sometimes - particularly now when food insecurity is getting worse again - saves lives.
