Autumn railings

It's been a lovely sunny autumn Saturday in Edinburgh today. I've enjoyed a quiet day of reading, pottering, and wandering around the shops with an exciting purchase (to be blipped in the near future, no doubt). I also went for a run. I photographed the railings of Queen Street Gardens from Abercromby Place on our walk up to town.

Today's sad new, however, is that my friend J has died. After we said our goodbyes on the day of my hospital visit, Mr hazelh and I guessed that J would not last more than a fortnight, and this turned out to be the case. I am glad that J is no longer in pain, but terribly sorry that she has died so young.
