Lone goose

I met this chap at the village pond in Meriden. He was the only goose there surrounded by ducks and seagulls a plenty.

I'm wondering whether he is one of this year's hatchlings who decided NOT to fly south for the winter or whether he is just an opportunist who knows he will be well fed by the locals if he hangs around and looks cute.
