An old tree trunk can dream

When I saw this sight I thought of the story of the Little Christmas Tree by Hans Christian Anderson. I'd call this old post a telegraph pole, but I'm sure it used to carry power cables. Now it has no purpose. It looks as if it is dreaming of the time when it was living fir tree.

Sadly looking closer I can see that the ivy at the bottom has had its trunk cut through, which is why it is no longer green. Looks like quite a recent act.

Added to this there are Christmas tree shaped lights in the background, which add insult to injury for the poor old tree trunk.
