Emptying Rosenkälla Lake
Rosenkälla Lake was restored in the beginning of 2002. A nice lake was created and a lot of birds were moving in. The rare Horned Grebe liked the place and the colony growed until about two years ago, when the situation dramatically changed.
The specialists suspected that pikes ate eggs from the rare birds and it was decided to empty the lake and transport away all the pikes and then keep the waterlevel a little bit lower.
And now it´s more or less done. You can see the depth of the lake before on the grass behind the birding tower. In the middle of the lake there is a ditch and about 50 swans are chatting about the event.
In the spring the Lake will be back again, hopefully ... but what about the pikes?
