Home Alone?!

I've been left 'home alone' for most of today. I didn't get my afternoon walk until 5pm and that's why I've been blipped in the dark!

If you're only interested in seeing what I've been doing today, don't bother reading any further; it's only Ann ranting again?!

We want a new kitchen and this morning Ann went to 'Homebase' to see a kitchen designer. 'Homebase' is the only kitchen company we have seen that make you go to their shop and do not come and visit you at home. What a stupid policy?!!!!

When Ann made the appointment she was told to bring along a 'rough plan' of the kitchen. Ann's, very lovely friend Pete, drew her an 'extremely accurate' plan of her kitchen and had marked on every single little thing. And still it wasn't enough for 'Homebase'?

Ann wants a 'white gloss slab' kitchen. 'B&Q' and 'Howdens' have managed to design one for her so why 'Homebase' couldn't we don't know. First the Homebase woman tried to tell Ann that 'white gloss slab' kitchens are contemporary and therefore do not have drawers at the top of their base units. Well maybe the Homebase ones don't but the B&Q and Howdens ones most definitely do ........... and Ann wants drawers. Then she tried to tell us that we couldn't have our fridge/freezer where we wanted it, because it would look better at the other side of the room. Just who is the customer here?

Then she said that we would be given a quote based on her design, and only once we'd accepted that, and agreed to buy the kitchen from Homebase, and paid a £250 deposit, would someone come out to the house to do a survey?! .................And no doubt will increase the price because we want a wall knocked down to build a breakfast bar etc. so how they can quote accurately for something they haven't seen we don't know? It all seems like madness?!!

Anyway, after almost two hours Ann left (well she had to go to work this afternoon). Homebase woman has made another appointment to see her in two weeks time. Well, she did the hard sell thing about matching other quotes. And she also said that on the day of the next appointment, if Ann bought a kitchen from her, for one day only, they would be able to give her the best price ever?!!

However, having come home and looked again at the B&Q and Howden designs; they have done what we want.

..........................So I guess it's going to be 'Bye, bye Homebase'?!!!!!!!
