Bug eyes
What surprised me about this simple leaf dwelling bug, is the fact that it only had two of the normal three simple eyes (ocelli) and they seem very well developed too. You can actually see where the third eye used to be, there is a crease in the skull, towards the nose.
I have read that some insects have only two ocelli. I think what we are seeing here is evolution in action. Maybe flight is not so important to this bug, although it does actually fly. In fact it actually tired of me chasing it around with my finger and eventually flew off.
Update - identification - green shield bug.
