Our favourite bird
David Attenborough once said, "Everyone likes birds. What wild creature is more accessible to our eyes and ears, as close to us and everyone in the world, as universal as a bird?" That is even truer when you talk about Robins in this country, especially in winter. How many times are we cheered by the sight of a Robin on a cold day?
One prediction that I can make with a high degree of certainty, at least for the next fifty years or so, is that the Robin will retain its status as Britain's national bird. Around fifty years ago it was given this accolade after a poll in The Times. And there is nothing to suppose that the close relationship that we enjoy with our most favourite of warblers is set to change.
I came across this one on a walk on Leckhampton Hill. He played hide and seek with me for a little until I was able to get a blip!
