Dr Nigel
I went to a fascinating lecture at the Royal Observatory tonight. It wasn't a spontaneous act, as I had recognised the speaker's name on the programme a few months' ago. I went to college back in my home town with Nigel, and we studied roughly the same subjects together. Of all our contemporaries, he's the only one I know who carried on with an academic career. We haven't met for over 10 years, so it was really good catching up before and after his talk.
Portrait wise, I've screwed up the exposure big time. I meant the background to be one of his more colourful slides, but it's obviously over exposed. That white splodge is actually a simulated picture of our Milky Way galaxy, and not a hurricane!
