The Big Red Book...
The main bible in St Thomas' Church Salisbury, the ancient place of worship for those building the Cathedral, as in this Blip from November.
Whilst I'm not of Faith, I do appreciate the quiet solace that it and its history provides and an hour poking about with a macro lens is better than with any therapist or shrink! I always put a few pennies in the box after, as one should.
With a macro lens quite close-up, you don't get much depth of field for your f11 aperture but it's enough to get these gold-gilt page tips in as well as the edge of that deep crimsony-plum, worn old leather. The background is the big brass (& ornate, lower down) stand. Main 'help' this image had was to set the camera's white balance to 'cloudy', which ups the warmth quite a bit - ideal with such a subject. Light is ambient, dull outside coming diffused through big windows, fairly low in quantity, hence the high iso.
As the lens is Tamron's 90mm f2.8 macro, that qualifies as a telephoto - gosh, this trend might continue!
Zoom in on 'large' for extra detail and ancient texture!
I'm aware that I have a few Blips from others to look through and comment on and tracked replies, too. Have a day of catching up with domestic duties after the heavy cold, so will see to these vital Blip duties this evening...
