An Unusual Date Day!!!
The weather has been divine!!!
It's weekend and holiday time, so after our service..which was excellent and not to be missed...GK and I decided to head out of the city and in the general direction of the East Coast and the mountains!
Fujeirah is an one of the seven Emirates of the UAE with a coastline on the Indian Ocean...or as the local population say...the Arabian Sea! It was forced up from the seabed by a humungous burp underwater eruption some infinite number of years ago...(not to be repeated for another infinite number of years!!)..thank goodness....hence the wonderful range of mountains and amazingly colourful rock strata!
This unbelievable eruption caused any number of wadi's (valleys) to form,(this is one of them), which during the rainy season, fill with water. It makes them extremely fertile areas which are often then continuously fed from the underground water springs that form.
Local farmers capitalise on this process and plant date palms in what is otherwise a very barren, rocky area.
In the shimmering heat of summer...these look absolutely surreal.
Today they looked fairly spectacular too!!
Great day, great drive.....unusual terrain!
Happy Blipping Everyone
