One street, our street #5
Love 'em or hate 'em, aggies are essential for summer colour in our climate.
Today was my last chance day to blip the agapanthus in our street due to the excessive heat this week. As tough as they are, signs of wilting were evident when I took this photo at 8AM this morning. The 43C temperature has tested the plants to the max and you can see where some stems have even wilted down onto the street.
The blip I did a couple of days ago featured a New Holland Honey Eater taking nectar from a large agapanthus flower head. Legodude asked to see the whole bank of agapanthus that I had mentioned, so here it is. The photo is taken directly opposite our house and looks clearer in LARGE.
The brown stalks you can see at the back of the bank are bears britches that have gone to seed. The whole bank covers a massive area that has spread naturally over the last 6 to 7 years.
