On sunrise this morning the cloud was thick as I looked out from behind the curtains, dull and grey hung over the garden, not at all like a summer morn.

The sun finally broke through mid morning and I submerged myself in the garden only taking a breather for a wander with a cuppa in hand. It was warming to feel the sun getting hotter and hotter as the day progressed, the odd gust from a nor'west wind came through otherwise all was calm. The soil was damp and a little heavy as I worked it, good thinking time with a little aggression on my part.

Silvereyes are still feeding on a tree which has berries, they haven't flown to the forests this year perhaps they're young ones. Joining them are blackbirds and thrush along with little sparrows, lots of chirping, jostling and some aggression amongst the branches.

The rose Kathryn McGredy has struggled year after year. She has two canes and not much else, perhaps only shedding one bloom per season but this year has produced three with another coming on, shes holding tight with her delicate perfume filling the air, I will do the same.

Both daughters are unwell, tonsillitis for one and swollen glands and feverish for the other, both with sore throats, they need to be home. Daughter A will be home sometime next week - it keeps changing and Daughter E will be popping in tomorrow, hubby will have his three day weekend, hoping for some good family time.

For those interested in wildlife, yesterday's Blue Ducks are worth a wee look and read, endemic and endangered to New Zealand.

Happy weekend!
