Travelling up the Awatere Valley
The morning at work then a quick pick up of gear from home and double check of my list.
We left our meeting point in North Canterbury around 2pm. It's a long haul up to where we camped beside the Hodder River road bridge. We saw Tappy from the other side looking up the Clarence Valley but since we're climbing it from this side, it's several more hours of driving to get there.
I slept well - longer than I've had the chance to all week and very comfortably on my thermarest mat in a wee tent.
That's Tappy on the left. Hmmm, rather big.
Definitely big when viewed large
