Inside/Outside....
It's blowing a gale out there...so i wandered around the house and took some images....i like this window in the kitchen!
One of the things i like about getting older is how much freer i feel to ask for help and criticism on my paintings.
Many years ago i wouldn't have been able to show another artist my paintings....i wasn't able to trust my own lack of knowledge and believe that someone else could nurture my sprouting wings.....so i played around, took a few classes and that was all really. Now, here i am in a very comfortable place with myself....with where i am in my painting ability....and it's all just fine. All this because yesterday i had a wonderful call with one of my dearest friends....richard. We've known each other for over 30 years and at one time we both lived in Toronto. He now lives in Miami Florida, and i'm here on the east coast of Canada. When we do manage to talk, we always get around to art....he is an amazing and talented artist, painting such astonishing nature scenes in oil, using only a palette knife...and has also been a teacher at the university for many years . He has a wonderful ability to give just the right kind of critique of one's work! So i sent him an image of one of my paintings...one i was quite happy with and asked him for his comments. He was amazing.....the feedback i got is so helpful and encouraging....what a miracle this interweb thing is eh!!! Being in such an isolated place it's not easy to be involved in some kind of dialogue about art.....so i rely heavily on a few friends that i can send images to!
off to do some more painting!
