OBAKE
OBAKE:- Is a class of ghost, phantom, strange apparition or preternatural creatures in Japanese folklore. The terms literary mean a thing that transform or shapeshifting. Obake often is translated as ghost, but primarily they refer to living things who have taken on a temporary transformation.
At night during and some days after Setsubun Maiko and Geiko will wear costumes in order to become a personality from old or modern times in Japan. The Obake evolves in the Hanamachi, Geisha~districts, and the streets lights are dim down. (This make very difficult to take pictures)
I was lucky twice, on the 2nd when unexpectedly I saw a Maiko running out of an shrine with a Samurai costume and today meeting these three Geiko walking, early evening, in the Hanamachi's street ready for the Obake celebration.
