Daft #1
Well that was easy. Had a totally different shot in mind, along the daft theme, when I came across this less than half way to the intended destination. With a bitter easterly headwind, and spots of rain, snapping this instead wasn't a difficult decision.
What's daft? This sign. About six miles from the bridge. I doubt any road user hereabouts hasn't been aware of the two year build-up to these roadworks. If there is anyone, they'll soon find out! The works start tomorrow in earnest. They're to last 16 weeks, and chaos is guaranteed.
I'm hoping to avoid most of it, by cycling as much as possible. The weather's not set to warm up much, but at least I'll be travelling in, in daylight - you're more likely to spot some of the recent monster potholes. The cycle route has a couple of diversions added, which entail an extra (large) hill, and about another mile. Was worried about the back-road part becoming a rat-run for the rally type drivers (it happened before), but I see the Council have erected "no thoroughfare" signs for motor traffic. Of course that doesn't mean everyone will observe such notices...
