Carnaval de Nivelles
This weekend has been the Carnival in Nivelles which is a small town 13 kms away, so after my Zumba class this morning we went to Nivelles.
The Gilles were there for the parade - I never get bored of seeing them, it's such a wonderful tradition and their dance to the drums is so unique. I should have worn my clogs and joined in lol!
After a foggy start to the morning the sun came out and it was a lovely afternoon. We had a wander around the town and in true carnival style had a hot dog before calling into one of the local bars for a drink. Then we heard the drums, and Gilles started dancing so we knew it was time for the parade to start.
The parade starts with their local Giants - Argayon, his wife Argayonne and son Lolo, but of all my photos I love this one of these two children. I assume they're twins, as they look so alike, and I wondered what they were looking at, but if you look closely they've got poporn in their hands :-)
The Carnival weekend started yesterday and carries on until tomorrow, so if I've got time I might go back to see what's going on.
Anyway we're home now, have had a Sunday roast and now it's time for Dancing on Ice. Happy Sunday!
