No Graffiti, Please!
This mural appeared in the top article on the front page of Monday's Bellingham Herald -- it must have been a slow day for news.
It's on the back wall of an apartment building that had been a frequent target for graffiti taggers. The apartment manager comissioned artist Shawn Cass, one of the residents, to paint it in the hope it would put a stop to the graffiti.
Several iconic Bellingham buildings can be seen in the mural, though they've been moved around a bit. See how many you can recognize!
Here's the ironic part of the story. Three years ago, Shawn was arrested in Bellingham for tagging a bridge. Now he gets paid to paint on walls. He did the murals on McKay's Taphouse that I blipped previously.
