The Secret Garden

Today's Mono Monday is the last of Picturemull's intriguing challenge. It is to be a mono response to her blip here. My attempt is a rural reinterpretation of the closed and derelict  door.

I have been somewhere different today. Our friend D's guide dog isn't very well which is a bit of a worry. She can no longer take him to the vet as, during the pandemic, the Stirling surgery has closed. The only option is the surgery in Callander which is about 15 miles away. There are other vets in Stirling but I don't think any is accepting new clients at the moment.

Off we set bright and early. Another beautiful day (extra). While Merlin was in having some examinations I took Flora for a walk. This is by the River Teith and round the back of the famous Roman Camp Hotel. The garden behind the wall and through this disreputable looking gate is actually well tended. The hotel of course is closed just now. Thank you Picturemull for a thought provoking challenge this month.

I had a walk round Callander. It is usually very busy. Today it was more or less deserted. It's good that people are obeying the rules but sad to see a place which usually supports a lot of visitors so quiet. I can't tell you how nice it was to legitimately walk somewhere different. I never usually drive to walk. This is more than OK as there are lots of nice walks nearby. But to be in a different place for an essential purpose was a boost.

Today is the birthday of Robert Burns. We will be eating (veggie) haggis, neeps and tatties tonight, looking at some online Burns nights and possibly enjoying a dram in his honour.
