Marcello Mastroianni

One of the giants of Italian cinema at the Casa del Cinema, Villa Borghese Gardens. Just outside the gardens is the Via Veneto, immortalised in Fellini's masterpiece La Dolce Vita, starring Marcello Mastroianni as a journalist. The film also featured a news photographer character called "Paparazzo" who hounded the rich and famous along the Via Veneto - behaviour that we now associate with the "paparazzi".

The cafes and bars on the Via Veneto were quiet when we stopped for a coffee - so I chose this photograph instead.
