Dog Legged
Poor old Milk has broken her leg. She fell down the stairs you can see in the background. I do wonder how much these Old English Sheepdogs can be aware of their surroundings. After all, if I can hardly see her eyes, surely it stands to reason she can barely see out.
The vet says it's not a bad break and she should be back on her feet in no time. She's a happy, sociable, active soul though, and so is visibly upset about her lack of mobility.
Not sure if it'll play over in The UK, but I stumbled upon this great BBC investigation on youtube the other day that highlights the sheer insanity of pure breeding dogs for looks - as is the standard in the UK.
Through inbreeding and selecting visual traits above all else, we are literally breeding defects and disease into many of the most popular breeds - and will eventually breed them into extinction.
It's great to see a handful of people making a stand, and utterly shocking to see the sheer blindness of others to the range of problems they are helping cause.
Finally, I linked this pic in a blip the other day, but for those who aren't regulars to my page, here's Milk in happier times - larking about with my wife.
'Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace.'
- Milan Kundera
