Serenity // Head Like A Hole

Things take a big turn today.

Serenity
So here's a photo I'm very proud of. I woke up a bit earlier than usual, which paid off as there was no wind but loads of sunshine. Sailing-wise, this sucked, but photographically it was great! I know its the third photo in a row of the lighthouse but this may be my favorite one yet! Sunrise was beautiful and the water was a mirror. Queue minimalism. Thoughts on this shot? Oh, view large please!

Head Like A Hole
Right, so the evening saw the arrival of good wind. I taught the dudes how to sail with the spinnaker, which is quite challenging and demanding. They rocked it and I was having a good bit of fun with Pierre doing this type of stuff, except with the spinnaker as well. Its called "bananer" in french, literally translating to "doing bananas." Its definitely fun when you're learning, but mastering how to make them last a good minute or so takes good concentration and skill.
So after taking a break on the beach, we set off again around 6ish. I'm halfway through a banana, except Pierre somehow backflips backwards into the water. With not enough weight on the upper hull anymore to hold the banana, the catamaran capsizes. No biggie (looks like this), it was pretty hilarious actually.
Everything goes fine, Pierre makes it back to the boat and Mattieu who's on the security zodiac even comes over have a laugh. The procedure to un-capsize the catamaran is pretty standard, I've done it at least 100 times. Things don't go so well this time though and everything happens really fast. Yeah, I take the top hull of the catamaran straight to the face.

Thanks to Matthieu for being at the right place at the right time.
Thanks to Pierre, PA and Antoine for keeping it cool.
Thanks to Cecile for taking care of me while the fire department was on the way.
Thanks to Michel for coming with me to emergencies.
Thanks to Sete emergencies for stitching me up and stuff.
Thanks to Guillaume for picking us up from there.

There, story told, at least partially. Hopefully, this'll cut down a whole lot of people asking me why my head is sliced open!

peace
