The times they are a changing

4o odd years ago this picture would have looked a lot different (see here), for this is all that is left of the old slipway for the Ferry that ran from Aust across the river severn to Wales.

I don't think you'd have much look driving anything down it nowadays!

In the linked photo, you can just make out the then new Severn Bridge; which has since been superseded by a second crossing over the river.

Obviously once the motorway bridge was opened, this meant people could cross the river in minutes, and the ferry would no longer be needed. The last crossing was on the 8th September 1966, the day before the bridge was opened.

So today marks 5 years, or half a decade for our eldest boy, and the times feel like they are changing everyday.
