There is an H up there !
12.8C with bright spells and the return of the strong wind.
I decided to go through to Arbroath this morning. I stopped at a garden centre and got compost for my big containers in which I grow second early potatoes, a big grow bag for tomatoes, and some tomato food. The latter two items won't be used for a while.
Compost bought I drove round to the harbour. Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a wander round the harbour. We looked for blips. I got some nice shots but the blip had to be this 'H' which we noticed flying high on the mast of a boat in the boatyard. Can't miss out on a good letter for the occasional alphabet series. Before you ask I have to tell you that I have no idea if the flag has a meaning :-)
After the harbour I popped into a supermarket for some milk before coming home. I didn't buy a croissant.
After lunch Maeve and I went out for our walk. We went round the usual route. We did see some soil blowing across the fields, but it wasn't too bad and we didn't have to walk through it. The sea was very rough, with white horses very much in evidence. I could see sand blowing along the beach so we stuck to the cycle path. There is a noticeable amount of soil on the main road into Carnoustie. Most of it was probably washed away by the rain yesterday.
In the afternoon I went out into the garden while Maeve had a snooze and the containers are now planted up with well chitted "Charlotte" in a mix of the compost I bought and home made compost. I will top the containers up with compost once the potato plants show above the surface of the compost.
Occasional alphabet series summary:
A - Out of the sea but still wet
B - Near the Bow
C - Between house and church
D - Three D
E - Only an 'E' from Wee Peem would do !
F- Paint Drips
G - Gillian
I'll keep and eye out for an 'I' :-)
I just had a look at my blip for this day last year. I remember writing the text. I cannot read nor hear those words from "The Blood is Strong" without feeling a tear in the corner of my eye or getting a lump in my throat.
Now the countdown to the first trip of the year to the West is really on !
(there will be North too!)
