Toadsporn

Common Toad (Bufo bufo)
I went to look at some cremated bone from the Bronze Age, this morning; then looked at the weather and hopped a bus to Aberlady to check out the Nature Reserve. My first visit, but I'll be back. Lots of skylarks, meadow pipits, some willow warblers and a couple of whitethroats. Two species of deer.
I was most struck by all the toads in amplexus, desperate to mate, including this threesome :)
After I had taken the photo, I heard a very camp 40 year old guy (sunbed tan and a wee Yorkshire Terrier puppy [dogs are banned from the reserve]) turn to his mother (I assume that's who she was) and say, "Oooh look! A frog carrying her babies on her back!"
