Bloomin' lovely
The spring blossoms are blooming everywhere at the moment and I have been waiting for my favourite ones to come into bloom.
These are cherry blossoms taken from the Avenue of Remembrance in our village of Cobham. Originally there were forty cherry trees planted in 1946 by the Cobham Village Women's Institute. Each tree commemorated a member of the armed forces from Cobham who had died during the Second World War.
At that time, each tree had a metal collar giving details of the member of the forces, but over time some of the trees have died and all but three of the collars have disappeared.
They seem to bloom later than other trees in the area and are in bloom for a relatively short while, so I have been watching patiently for the buds to appear. They are not in full bloom yet, and I will probably take more photographs of the avenue of trees when all the buds have all opened.
