I want feeding
Last day in The Lakes before heading back south, and I decided to revisit Buttermere via Newlands before returning to Keswick via Honister Pass and the M6 home.
While I had a drink and scone in Buttermere, the sparrows came up to the table to pinch some crumbs. Fortunately I had the "long lens" on the camera and shot this little fellow puffing itself up as if to say "feed me"
In the event, the journey home took longer than anticipated, as about 7 miles from Keswick I suffered a puncture. The local vicar, whose vicarage was next to the road where it happened, kindly let me use her phone and gave me a much needed cuppa while we waited for the AA man (no-one could work out how to undo the locking nuts on the wheel). However, the AA man sorted it, but I have one of these space saver spares - max 50 mph only - and by the time I got into town the tyre places were shut. So I was resigned to a slow and steady trip back home: thank goodness for Classic FM and cruise control! One positive side effect was that my mileage worked out at around 95 miles per gallon (rather than 60 on the way up) so its saved me money!
