STAR car - a bit of a rant!

This is me with Ann's colleague Matt beside the 'STAR car'. This is the company car that Ann drives when she's tootling around town.

Ann loves this car - but she does not particularly like tootling around on a Bank Holiday weekend.

Take yesterday for example! .......................................

.....................STAR Linen Hire (where Ann works) is situated on the outskirts of town and the only place Ann had to go yesterday was the Tide House Hotel in the centre of town, which normally would take under 5 mins to get to. Yesterday it took 20 mins because Ann got stuck behind some mad, crazy tourists that obviously didn't know where they were going, had never heard of indicators, rear view mirrors, etc, etc. It was just incredible that a driver could be so 'non-aware' of the problems he was causing. The tailback behind stretched further than Ann could see and every two seconds he stopped, without warning, to have a chat with his passenger??!!! Nobody could overtake him because there was a constant stream of traffic coming the other way. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It would be nice to say that 'Mr Mad Tourist Man' was a one off!!! Unfortunately he's not.

For those of you who don't know St Ives; it's a quaint little town in West Cornwall that was originally a fishing port. As such, the streets are narrow, parking is limited and driving is a nightmare; especially for you holiday makers who arrive in your massive four by fours and then get grumpy when you can't park right outside wherever you are staying.

Also, while we're on the subject of parking....................... It amazes Ann the number of people who come on holiday and then spend hours waiting for a space in the car park (nearest to town and the beaches) to become free. We have blipped this problem before!!! Do you not realise that if you are parked in a narrow street no one can get past you, so the whole town comes to a standstill. Some of us (well obviously not me because I'm a collie dog) have work to do and places to get too. I don't suppose any of you would be too pleased if you hired linen & towels from STAR and they weren't delivered because the humans couldn't actually drive around town?!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And another thing....................A lot of tourists trekking around town seem to think that the whole town is a pedestrianised zone. It's not!!!! This is actually a 'working town' - you are not wandering around in a 'holiday complex'!!!! Therefore when you are walking in the middle of the road, turn around and see a car just about to run you down, PLEASE MOVE OUT THE WAY. Don't just carry on walking in the middle of the road and think the car has no right to be there. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Holiday makers - we love you really - if you weren't here Ann probably wouldn't have a job and she wouldn't be able to afford all the lovely treats she gives me. But please, please, please when you come on holiday to our beautiful town, don't leave your brains at home!!!!!!
