Looks Good To Me

Not the Beer Festival

Today's plan was to take the train to Edmonds (a few miles north of Seattle), where my son T would meet me and take me to the annual Washington Beer Festival in Seattle. It's what we always do on Fathers Day, and I was as excited as a Border Collie waiting for the ball to be thrown.

Five minutes before I was ready to drive to the train station, my phone dinged to alert me to a message from Amtrak that my 8:45 am train would be delayed to 10:29 -- note the precision. I was glad I hadn't left earlier.

Shortly after I arrived at the station for the delayed departure another delay was announced, and then another. We left at noon. If nothing else had gone wrong I would have reached Edmonds at 1:45. I'll spare you the details -- it was 3:00 when I got there.

T and I decided it wouldn't be worth the one-hour drive each way to the festival for the very limited time we'd be able to stay there, and decided to go to the Edmonds Art Festival instead. It wasn't what we really wanted to do, but we enjoyed having time to together, and managed to have a couple of beers and a nice meal, before it was time for me to catch the train home.

I was very, very glad that train was on time.

Cynthia had better luck on her trip to Seattle today.

P.S. I didn't have a corn dog, or a deep-fried Twinkie.
