June Challenge - Bliss - No more L Plates

Day 26 of TerriG's June daily challenge - Bliss

After 18 months of work, taking photos, processing them, printing and mounting them, rejecting them and re-shooting them, 3 advisory days (1 as an observer and 2 for advice), last minute panics (I found a manufacturing defect on some of my mounts - so I had to reprint and remount the 3 affected photos at the end of last week), a night in a hotel in Bath last night (and a beautiful Italian meal in their restaurant), I left the hotel this morning and joined the traffic jam that is Bath (it hasn't got better in the 20+ years since I was last there).

At the RPS HQ a group of people waited until we went into the room for the assessments. A very illustrious panel were present -

Chair -
Rikki O'Neill FRPS MPAGB

Panel -
Ann Miles FRPS EFIAP MPAGB (one of the advisers on my second advisory day)
Anne Sutcliffe FRPS (one of the advisers on my first advisory day)
Trevor Gellard FRPS (he was the chairman of the panel for my LRPS)
Richard Walton FRPS EFIAP MPAGB(one of the advisers on my second advisory day)
Ian McGowan FRPS

A total of 17 panels should have been shown, but there was 1 no show, so there were 16, of these 2 were projected images and the rest were prints. 2 of these remaining panels were not assessed, both were from foreign entrants, one was clearly a travel panel, not a visual art panel and was set aside for the next free travel assessment (where it should do well, it was excellent), the other was put to one side after the statement of intent had been read out for no stated reason, but the general feeling afterwards was that it was due to copyright issues.

Mine was the last but one to be assessed, and went through the same process as all the others, it was viewed by the panel, they voted confidentially, 2 of the panel were asked to speak about it and then they voted again. The chairman then announced the result (although there was a big hint - for the successful panels a) he smiled, and b) he picked up the application form to read out the person's name). I had been successful!

A blissful day for me then, and time to throw away the L(RPS) plates and put on the A!

You can see the panel here.

Yesterday's blip was a backblip - here.
