Edward Davis and the pink wellies

This monument commemorates Edward Davis, the youngest of the four Davis brothers who established the ship building industry on Brisbane Water. Edward built his first ship here in 1863 and went on to build 16 ships on this site.
 
The pink wellies are one example of the abandoned footwear that appears so frequently around here. I saw two pairs just today without even looking for them (extra).
