DOG ROSE ( Rosa canina )

After a 3 week gap I went to shopping to Asda this morning with my friend J for the big shop. As usual I spent some time with J's mother in law first while J took the dog for a walk.

Neil had a day off but I haven't seen much of him as he was out at his friends most of the day and he is playing cricket in Newcastle this evening.

Weather has mostly been dull but it got sunny this afternoon for a short while. I was out in the garden putting some bird food out when I noticed that a lot of the dog roses had opened in the sunshine. I nipped indoors to get my camera, got distracted with other stuff, and by the time I came out again the sun had gone in. So in this shot the dog rose petals are beginning to curl up and close.

Today would have been the 85th birthday of my late husband Douglas. I have been without him for nearly 12 years.
