Walking among bluebells

“In the woods the bluebells seem
Like a blue and magic dream.
But the eager girl who pulls
Bluebells up in basketfuls
When she gets them home will find
The magic left behind.”
― Eleanor Farjeon
Walked in Mine woods,  just across the road from our home, this afternoon in search of bluebells. I did not have to go far.
Swathes of them as far as the eye could see.

Industrial farming
Delighted to hear that James Bailey, boss of Waitrose, is to encourage a return to pre-industrial farming.
As a child I was horrified when my parents announced on our farm in Wales that they  were going to do "modern farming “ . Hens which had roamed free were unceremoniously bundled into wire cages for battery farming.
Fortunately, their experiment proved a dismal failure. The hens were furious and pecked each other, some to their deaths, and they were eventually released.
But many were crippled and couldn’t walk and had to be destroyed.
Bailey says the era of cheap food  and industrial farming is over, something that I , for one, am glad of it.
