Day at a Time

Day Out

Flora is being looked after by our daughter today to give us the opportunity to have a bit of culture. We took the train to Edinburgh and called in at the City Art Centre to look at the two current exhibitions. In Shifting Landscapes was a magnificent painting by James Wingate, a relative of one of my lifelong friends. In the extra is a painting by Adam Bruce Thomson of Colinton Parish Church which stirred lots of memories for me. Two super exhibitions. We then walked over to the National Gallery to see the Vermeer currently on loan from the National Gallery in London. I'm glad we went but such paintings don't grab me 100%. We did go to see a few which I like better in the new Gallery of Scottish Art.

The main is a window in the City Art Centre looking on to Market Street.

We walked to Stockbridge for a bit of lunch then along the Water of Leith to Haymarket. It's a beautiful day and Edinburgh looks splendid. As indeed it is.

Wishing you a good weekend
