Another day, another exciting encounter! Quite some time ago I came across this man and was drawn by his intellectual look and keen note taking while observing street life... At the time I wishfully presumed he was a writer and did not even consider making myself known.
Going to my favorite cafe for a quick latte before work, I recognized him from miles away. There was the moment! If I'd missed it, I'd have hated myself. I'd have even thought of abandoning photography altogether. I ordered my latte and drank it in a few gulps while changing the lens on my camera. Deep breath in and relax! After all, the thrill of street photography for me is about reaching out, exploring and finding unexpected common ground with complete strangers... I wanted to reach out to these two!
Both friends were very open and relaxed (as if someone would ever doubt it). Drew Wiggin IS a writer and has just published his first book - "Almost Europe And The Absence Of Bird Watching". He said he was now writing his second book. Handwriting it. On paper.
As soon as I post this, I'll buy his book.
