From where I'm sitting

Joy to You, Baby

Another month, another gig, another hero. This time one of more recent vintage - Josh Ritter. I first encountered this man's music about a decade ago, and have been an avid fan ever since. This was my third time seeing him live, and he just keeps getting better. So full of energy, so full of joy, and such amazing songs.

The setting and style of the gig couldn't have been more different to last month's stadium experience. Whereas that was an all seated, big screen, grand affair, this was an all standing, sweaty, pounding, rather more intimate occasion. We were lucky to be able to stand right near the front at the side, which was great apart from the constant stream of people barging past us on their way to and from the bar and the occasional tall person who thought standing right in front of me was a good idea (and the big stack of speakers preventing me from being able to take a decent photo of the best moustache in music sported by Josh's bass player!).

A shame that a 30 minute delay to the advertised start time meant that we again had to sneak out before the end to make our train home, but what a fabulous way to start the summer holidays.
