Squires Castle
Built in the 1890s, by Feargus B. Squire for use as the gatekeeper's house for his future country estate, which was never built, Squires Castle is now a popular attraction for visitors to North ChagrinReservation. Legend has it that it is haunted, but legend is most likely wrong. Squire's wife was a city dweller fearful of relocating to what was then the countryside far from her home in Cleveland. Consequently, Squire never completed his plans for a country estate.
I went there today with my daughter and her son. They took a hike on the trails behind the castle, and I took pictures. I snapped their photo in what was once the kitchen of the gatekeeper's house.
