The Meeting of the Waters

Today we all walked along the river from Hexham to Warden. ( about two miles)
Had lunch at the Boatside Inn.
A huge and very succulent beef sandwich, and chips. One of the best I have tasted!

Then I thought it would be a good idea to walk back to Hexham along the other side of the river.
Our friends hadn't been that way before.
After about half a mile we came to here!
Where the rivers south Tyne and the north Tyne meet.

The south Tyne rises on Alston Moor in Cumbria.
The north Tyne rises in the Scotish Borders and flows through the Keilder Forest, and through the village of Bellingham, before they meet, to form the river Tyne.
More information see here

Unfortunately there was no bridge, and so we had to walk all the way back, and come back the way we came!

Some people were not too pleased, but at least we had seen this lovely spot!

If you look LARGE you will be able to see the fishermen in the river, and also some boys who were playing in the water. Must have been cold!!
