Generosity
Generosity enacts the quality of non-greed; it is willingness to give, to share, to let go. We are inspired to give because of loving feeling, and in the act of giving we feel more love.
~ Joseph Goldstein
This is the quotation for today from the Buddhist Offerings 365 Days book and it is so apt for this blip, and every day actually.
Went to work, got an induction in digital printing at the Stills Gallery, did some messages, came home, had a lovely client, read. As I was doing my messages in town, I was hungry but nothing from the outdoor food vendors really appealed and then I realised I was close to Social Bite, so I popped in and met this piece of spray art. I hadn't properly noticed it when I've been before.
After seeing Growing Change the other day, this was such a perfect image. Who wants to keep a system that keeps people poor, malnourished, at risk? I think you probably know the answer. We all need change. One way of achieving change is through generosity: generosity of our talents; generosity of our imagination; and generosity of our hearts. So much good happens when we open our hearts instead of looking after our own individualism.
I put this image up on the other place and a friend of mine quickly commented that it's a shame the café's coffee is 'awful'. As a tea drinker, I hadn't noticed. I suggested that she buy a suspended coffee there for someone who needs it and then go to her regular haunt to suggest they do suspended coffees, too. I'm full of good ideas but it's got to be more than just talking about them. So today I'm going to write to my usual haunts and see how persuasive I can be.
Thank you all for your generosity the last few blip days. It really means a lot to me.
Thank you again.
