Ringling Museum Lake near the Visitors Pavillion

My friends Lenna and Tom and I had wanted to share the American Artists show that is on loan from the Brooklyn Museum. The deadline approached and this was a day we all could do. Lenna had seen the show and admired the wonderful O'keefe that was one of the featured works. We saw many different artists; and many wonderful picture frames. They are often works of art in their own right! There were bronzes and wooden carvings that even Steven would have loved. We also got to see the Jacobs SkySpace installation that is so special. It is such a serene courtyard with an opening to the sky. The floor has drains so when it rains it does not flood. There are benches on the sides of the galleries for people to sit and view the changing sky. The creeping vines growing up the walls were beautiful, too! The man who designed this has a Quaker influence and you could see this in the simplicity and peacefullness of the space! I want to return to see this in depth at a later time. There was so much to see, but due to the heat of the day, I was drawn to the serene coolness of the water feature at the entry of the museum as the blip of the day!
