Backblip #2 - Dogma Magic Theatre #6
Each man's life represents a road toward himself, an attempt at such a road, the intimation of a path... But each of us - experiments of the depths - strives toward his own destiny. We can understand one another; but each of us is able to interpret himself to himself alone.
— Hermann Hesse
Dolomites big ride today! Somehow I got cocky in the last few days and was thinking that I could manage the Sella Ronda... My confidence was riding high until the alarm clock roused me at 7 am. Our hotel was a good 16 km's from Canazei leading on to what would be a 60 km round-a-bout of the Sella Group. The slow ride up to Canazei told me that maybe I had set my objective too far and was already prepping myself for something more in reach. Still an epic day! Passo di Sella (2240 m) and then back down a ways and up to Passo Pordoi (2239 m). The ride down from both was very memorable. The slog back down the valley and to the hotel - a bit less! But I did it!!
70 km's and nearly 1600 meters of elevation gain. A personal best.
This picture is from the top of Passo di Sella looking towards the base of Sassolungo. (yes, another stupid bicycle photo!)
