Indian Cultural Centre Mural
This is a mural outside the Pueblo Harvest Cafe, in Albuquerque, where we went for lunch today. The artist is from the Zuni Pueblo and his name is Muelawki.
Larger mural.
In 1977, the FRIENDS of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center undertook an ambitious campaign to raise money for the mural project at the Center. Donations were received from the local community, from visitors to the center from many other states, and from as far away as Japan.
Through the generosity of all of these people and with the additional help of a matching grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, the goal was reached and the mural project became a reality. These murals adorn the walls of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. So far I have not been able to find any information on this Zuni artist. I will ask when we visit their pueblo in the next few weeks.
