Anatole's blips

Another fresh fungus - the 'Devil's snuffbox'

This one is another edible fungus - the common puffball. For some peculiar reason it has been given a common name of the 'Devil's snuffbox'. It is a pretty benign fungus even when ripe and puffing spores. This lovely example was found today on Wimbledon Common.

Lycoperdon perlatum

(it does disagree slightly with some people - but I think they taste just great).

P.s. This is turning into a bit of a fungal blip series:
1. Stinkhorn fungus
