Hooray, Hooray, we're going on Holiday!
Backblipped 02.10.13
In summer 2014 that is! More on that later.
Normally I get up and showered while David gets Alan up and showered but as D is away, it was down to Ele and I to do the get up routine. I dragged myself out of bed at 6.30, which is actually half an hour later than normal, so a bit of a lie in really.
Knocked Ele’s bedroom door to wake her and headed downstairs to wake up my very sleepy son. Once he realised it was us incompetents in charge instead of his capable dad, he found the whole thing highly amusing!
Managed to get his school uniform on the right way round and by some minor miracle, we were through in the kitchen for breakfast at the usual time. The rest of the routine went like clockwork as that’s the bit I’m used to dealing with.
My new little mini food processor made light work of chopping his macaroni cheese to a much better consistency than I can manage by hand and he ate it in jig time without any hassle. I am hoping using this little gizmo will help reduce his fear of choking that he recently told me about.
He went off to school quite happily full of the joys and still slapping the backside of Mandy, the attractive blonde escort on the school bus, as she bends over to secure his wheelchair to the floor of the bus! Honestly!
After getting showered and dressed, Ele and I headed to the optician’s where she helped me choose my new specs. I was dreading it but after quickly deciding on the shape that suited me best, I soon found frames that I liked. There were a couple of hilarious moments as I tried on a few pairs that came under the banner of "something different" but in the end, I played safe. I think they're ok. The receptionists didn't point and laugh when I asked them what they thought so here's hoping! I’ve to collect them a week on Wednesday.
After that we headed to a different farm shop from yesterday and had a bit of a wander in the shop before having a lovely lunch of macaroni cheese followed by coffee and chocolate brownie. I could get used to this lunching out every day!
Back home to an email from David to say him and Kenny love the holiday house in Cornwall that Ele found online yesterday and to go ahead and book it if we were happy with it too. Well we didn’t need to be told twice! Straight onto the website and got it booked. They only had three weeks still available in the summer, two of which suited us, so it was definitely fate that Ele found it!
So by the time Alan got in from school we had Holiday 2014 booked! Nothing else for it but to open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate (well if the guys get a weekend golfing in Portugal, I think we deserved a little treat!)
Dinner over and Alan in bed, we settled down to watch Bridget Jones. Perfect end to the day.
