Butterfly

Yesterday I mentioned repair work to a table leaf, which had split open at one end, of a 1930's Antique English Oak Barley Twist Drop Leaf Gate Leg table by 'R' using a Butterfly.

The repair comprises of clamping the leaf to remove the gap, cutting out this butterfly shape on the back of the leaf and then inserting a piece of wood of the same size and shape so it sits flush with the leaf surface.
