Societies Fair

James Boswell, in his London Journal 1762-1763 said something quite interesting, especially since this journal was written over 250 years ago. He said about his writing that…

In this way I shall preserve many things that would otherwise be lost in oblivion. I shall find dayly Employment for myself, which will save me from Indolence & help to keep off the Spleen and I shall lay up a store of entertainment for my after life. Very often we have more pleasure in reflecting on agreeable scenes that we have been in, than we had from the scenes themselves. I shall regularly record the business or rather the pleasure of every day.

Nice to know that someone has the same ideas as me! Today was the Societies Fair, and I am by the European Law Society stand. Now I have joined said society. Not because I do law or have any interest in it…but it is free to join, I have a few friends on the exec, and they get a lot of sponsorship from law firms, leading to free food and drink. Now if that is not a good enough reason I don’t know what is! Also had a little wander over to the Photosoc stand to borrow a flash for as long as I can manage to borrow it for, before heading up to help the new Big Band exec recruit some new members. It was nice when people who I had never met before recognised me by name…meant I didn’t have to explain to anyone that I was a finalist, not a fresher, and also used to be on the Big Band exec as a social sec! It sure is good to be back in the bubble.
