Geysir!
First full day in Iceland today. First off was a visit to the church in Reykjavik - the views from the top were rather fantastic! Then it was a day of geological fascination for me - only thing missing was a volcano!
We then drove out to Þingvellir National Park - I was rather excited as it's where the Mid-Atlantic ridge crosses the land. There's something rather fantastical about standing in a spot where new land was being created - even if all you can see is a path with two steep cliffs to each side.
We spent some time at the waterfall there, and then it was off to the geysir. This erupts every 5 minutes or so - I could have stayed there for a lot longer to watch it!
Finally, it was to Gullfoss - shame to say the wind was blowing the spray right into the camera lens so I don't have a fantastic picture of it, but it was wonderful to see.
Back to Reykjavik for the evening.
